EMMA AND OLLY’S BRIGHT SPRING WEDDING FLOWERS, THE SQUARE CLUB BRISTOL

BRIGHT SPRING WEDDING FLOWERS, THE SQUARE CLUB BRISTOL

It was one of those perfect spring mornings — soft golden sunshine, a light breeze in the air and Clifton’s wisteria-lined streets in full bloom. We have truly been blessed with the weather this year. As I wandered through the leafy lanes to meet Emma and her bridesmaids, I could already feel the buzz of the day building. Their reactions to the bouquets were everything a florist could dream of – sheer joy and excitement.

Then it was time to head to The Square Club, nestled in the heart of Bristol’s Clifton. The venue is effortlessly cool — a mix of Georgian elegance and modern artful interiors, making it ideal for couples wanting a space that feels both relaxed and stylish. And that describes Emma and Olly perfectly: creative, fun, and full of personality. With that in mind, I set to work transforming their wedding into a celebration of spring/colour.

BRIDAL BOUQUET
Emma’s bridal bouquet was an absolute dream to create — bursting with the most gorgeous seasonal flowers in a joyful riot of colour. We blended soft pastels in lilac, peach, baby blue, yellow and blush with bolder pops of orange and hot pink for contrast. The result was soft, romantic texture with just the right amount of bold energy. The bouquet featured sweet peas, bubble-gum pink spray roses, ranunculus, butterfly ranunculus, delphiniums, and the most perfect poppies as well as May’s must have Peonies. It was a bouquet that truly matched Emma’s spirit — bright, beautiful, and full of love.

BRIDESMAIDS’ BOUQUETS
Emma chose mono-stem bouquets for her bridesmaids, each one highlighting a single flower also found in her bridal bouquet. Originally, the plan was for the bridesmaids to wear mismatched pastel dresses, but this changed to white dresses with individual styles. To make the bouquets pop, I selected the brightest and boldest stems and wrapped each with beautifully mismatched, colourful silk ribbons. A special touch was giving Emma’s daughter the same striking bright pink ribbon as her mum — a little detail that made her feel every bit the special part of the bridal party.

CEREMONY FLOWERS
For the ceremony, we created wild floor meadows — lush, seasonal arrangements full of soft blossom, trailing wisteria and vibrant stems that tied the whole colour palette together. British foliage and blossoming branches arched up behind the couple, naturally framing them as they said their vows with a celebrant. The atmosphere was warm and joyful, and the “hiding the rings under the chair” trend was a hit with guests! Bud vases lined the edges of the room — a practical choice as they later doubled up as table decorations, but also a beautiful way to fill the space with flowers.

WEDDING BREAKFAST
For the wedding breakfast, those same bud vases danced down the length of colourful banquet tables, paired with bright candles that complemented the flowers perfectly. The sweetheart top table featured Emma’s bouquet, a scattering of candles and vases, and two tall plinths flanking each side. These held some of the ceremony arrangements high, so they featured beautifully in photos — both of the couple and during speeches. The rest of the larger designs were moved to the venue steps, ensuring every part of the space was infused with Emma and Olly’s floral vision. Every detail reflected them, and the room felt entirely theirs.

I will miss Emma and Olly — couples like them are exactly why I became a wedding florist. They were full of ideas, completely themselves and had a deep love for colour and joy. Their day was a celebration in every sense — unique, bursting with fun and filled with beauty.

Here’s to more weddings just like this — full of personality, laughter, and unforgettable flowers. If you’re planning your wedding and dreaming of floral magic that’s every bit as unique as you are, I’d love to hear from you. Bring on the rest of the season — I can’t wait to see what’s next. 🌸✨
