Madeline and Jack’s unforgettable modern wildflower wedding at North Cadbury Court. Madeline, already having the busiest summer of her life, had just starred in You on Netflix and featured in the final season of The Handmaid’s Tale. Jack, a film producer, was equally swamped, so this wedding felt like a moment of calm and celebration in the middle of a whirlwind year. Set in Somerset, not far from where Jack grew up, the couple’s vision was clear: a wedding rooted in British flowers, sentimentality, and a modern twist on wildflowers.

The Design

Madeline wanted the flowers to feel meaningful, seasonal and quintessentially British so we looked to wildflowers for inspiration, but with a fresh and modern reimagining. She was drawn to the softer tones of springtime and the purples and blues of crocus’s, so we reworked the traditional wildflower palette, swapping out the usual harsh purples and blues for more muted pastels: think buttery yellows, lilacs, blush, and the occasional pop of red and soft blue.

We paid homage to important months in their lives through flower choices: Lily of the Valley for May tucked into dainty bud vases and Cosmos for October, both thoughtfully woven into the day. Icelandic poppies were a must-have for Madeline, though I did worry about availability in mid-July which I spoke to her about. They’re a spring flower, and with weeks of 30-degree heatwaves leading up to the wedding, it felt like a risk. I even grew Californian poppies in my own garden just in case  but Liz, my brilliant grower at Pipley’s, pulled off a miracle and sourced the most beautiful Icelandic poppies just in time. They made it into Madeline’s bouquet, and I couldn’t have been more thrilled.

The Bridal Bouquet
Madeline’s bouquet captured the essence of everything she’d hoped for: a playful, romantic and modern take on wildflowers. Featuring pastel tones with blue undertones reds, peachy oranges, and dancing cosmos it was both dreamy and grounded in meaning.

The Bridesmaid Bouquet
With just one bridesmaid, we created a miniature version of Madeline’s bouquet delicate, joyful, and perfectly matched for her maid of honour.

Buttonholes
Jack and his groomsmen wore contemporary buttonholes secured with modern pins. The groomsmen had textured wildflower mixes, while Jack’s stood out with a striking lilac iris and a unique yellow orchid I’d sourced just for this wedding a bold pop that made sure all eyes were on the groom.

The Venue: North Cadbury Court

North Cadbury Court is a spectacular venue  a privately owned country house in Somerset that feels both grand and welcoming. It has everything a couple could dream of for a luxurious yet down-to-earth countryside wedding. The garden ceremony took place under a charming pagoda where Jack’s twin brother acted as celebrant, surrounded by sweeping floor meadows we’d created to frame the space and flowers above the couple to create a full floral frame.

The meadows lined the start of the aisle too, paired with flowing ribbons curated by Madeline herself a nod to their love of Glastonbury Festival, which they attended together this year and holds a special place in their hearts.

The Wedding Breakfast

After the ceremony, we repurposed the floral meadows around North Cadbury Court’s magnificent fireplaces, beneath the couple’s table plan and onto plinths flanking their sweetheart table. Bud vases dotted the guest tables, each holding seasonal stems, coloured glass candlesticks, and even more ribbons all accented by vibrant, joyful stationery.

Every single detail was thoughtfully considered and full of personality a true reflection of the couple themselves.
